Anonymous Village Agreement

All AV campers are required to abide by the following code of conduct.

Anonymous Village Agreements
Our camp is a safe, supportive, and substance-free environment built on the principles of 12-step recovery and the Ten Principles of Burning Man. Together, we create a space where everyone can stay sober, thrive, and fully experience the magic of the playa. By choosing to camp with us, we ask you to commit to the agreements that follow:

Substance-Free Environment
Our camp is a substance-free space. Camping with Anonymous Village is a good fit for those who intend to burn sober, meaning abstaining from being under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the burn.

For villagers, family members, and friends who do not intend to have an alcohol/substance-free burn, camping is available in a separate section of our camp known as Synonymous Village. Please be sure to indicate if that is where you would like to camp.

Personal Accountability
We are each responsible for our own gear, supplies, and personal needs. We come prepared with what we need for our own comfort and survival on Playa. Anonymous Village as a camp does not supply campers with meals, tools, etc (although many neighbors will likely be happy to share!).

Service
Participation and service are cornerstones of camping with Anonymous Village. There are many ways to be of service in camp, such as: Chairing a meeting; Making coffee or gatorade; Doing an ice run; Helping to set up or strike camp; Welcoming and placing people; Taking a commitment; Carrying out extra bags of trash; Picking up MOOP, etc.

Consent
Enthusiastic consent is required for any interaction, whether verbal or physical. Respect others’ boundaries and always ensure interactions are consensual. “No” is a complete sentence.

Unacceptable Behavior
Everyone at Anonymous Village has the right to feel safe and to be treated with respect. The following behaviors are not acceptable:

• Being verbally or physically abusive

• Engaging in non-consensual sexual interactions

• Exhibiting intolerance or prejudice

• Continuing to act in any of these ways after being asked to stop

In the Event of Issues
In the event that any conflict or harmful behavior does arise it’s important for there to be visibility around that. Please notify an Anonymous Village Trusted Servant.

Please note that in the event of any egregious violations of our agreements, there is a rotating steering committee of Anonymous Village, and ultimately camping with the Village is at the discretion of this committee.

Acknowledgment
In order to register to camp with us, you will be required to acknowledge your agreement with this code of conduct.
